SHE’S BACK! After taking a much deserved break from her success at the 2016 Olympics, Simone Biles has roared back to make history again. This time setting a record winning her fifth – yes, fifth! – US Women’s Gymnastics All-Round title, becoming the first woman to win all five golds at the nationals since 1994. ///by Amy Evans
“I knew I was capable of [scoring this well], but I kind of thought I was going to be a nervous wreck and maybe fall apart,” said Biles, sporting a teal mint leotard to support her sister survivors from the Larry Nassar scandal (teal is the designated support color.) “Going into these events, I know I kept telling my family I don’t know if I’m going to be able to calm myself down the way I did before and handle the nerves, but so far, so good.”
And – another first – Simone won her first national title on uneven bars, the only event she has not won at a previous Olympic or national competition. (Bucket list – ✔️)
What a performance from @Simone_Biles!
