Do you fangirl over Feyre? Do your dream about Rhys? Would you love to hang out with Celaena? Does your Pinterest look like a fandom homepage for Sarah J. Maas? Then you’re in the right place! Because just like you, we’re obsessed with the rich, wild and totally romantic worlds Sarah creates! While waiting for the release of A Court of Wings and Ruin, we caught up with her to play “Quick Questions” and learn more about what inspires her…
OK, Sarah, here we go!
Given how we’re obsessed with your heroines, who is your favorite girlboss character? Buffy. Or Sailor Moon. They both came into my life in middle school and I don’t know who I’d be without them.
The item in your closet you’d never give away? My black suede Manolo Blahnik pumps. I wear them with everything (and to everything).
You get your creative juices flowing by…drinking lots of coffee/tea. And when I’m fueled up on caffeine, I listen to music to get into my characters’ heads.
We’re with you on caffeine! So, if you could only write to one song…what would it be? This is a cruel, cruel question. But if I had to pick one song… “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid.
Favorite quote about empowering women. “When sleeping women wake, mountains move.”
If Celaena were living now she’d be reading… everything by Karen Marie Moning, J. R. Ward and Laini Taylor.
Your character most likely to be a YouTube star? Dorian. And he’d be talking about books. Lots and lots of books (and puppies)!
Haha! Oh my gosh! Love that. OK, how about the last show you binge watched? Suits. I watched the first two seasons in about four days. I’m now totally obsessed with Harvey Specter/Gabriel Macht.
The character that will surprise us most in ACOWAR is? My lips are sealed on that one.
Ha! We had to try! OK, favorite fan art? Oh man, there are so many pieces that I adore and that have moved and inspired me. But one of my favorite artists out there is Charlie Bowater @charliebowater. I loved this piece of Feyre and Rhys so much that we got permission to use the dress on the ACOWAR cover.
So perfect! Thanks, Sarah!
