The makeup brushes you use every day can become filled with nasty dirt, oil, bacteria and dead skin cells . . . gross! Get rid of the grime by following these four easy steps to get your brushes clean.

Things you’ll need:
Makeup brushes
Shampoo, face wash or makeup brush cleanser

1. Wet the bristles of the makeup brush with tepid or warm water.

2. Drop a small amount of face wash, shampoo or makeup brush cleanser (you can find some of our faves listed below) onto a towel and gently brush back and forth to create a lather within the bristles.

3. Rinse the bristles under running water until the water coming from the brushes turns clear. If your brushes are really dirty, repeat steps 2 and 3 until completely clean.

4. When all your brushes are clean, squeeze gently to get the excess water out and then lay them flat on a towel to air dry. Do not dry them standing up.

See how simple that was?! Cleaning your brushes frequently (once a week or so) will help keep your skin clear and breakout free PLUS it will keep your brushes in tip-top shape.
