Fifteen-year-old Courtney Allegra knew she had a knack for fashion at an early age. In fact, the young designer who launched her clothing line earlier this year attributes her love of design to constantly sketching and coming up with her own creations as a kid. But designing clothes is only one of many things this multi-faceted teen has already accomplished; she’s also an experienced actress, talented singer, honor student and award-winning equestrian. Check out our exclusive interview to get to know more about Courtney before she becomes a household name!
Getting started: I’ve been designing since I was a little kid. I used to love doing sketches of shoes and ball gowns, so when I got older my mom encouraged me to start designing. I took a few sewing classes, too.
Best Part of Being a Designer: Just seeing the designs come to life in real clothing, not just sketches; it’s my favorite part. My mom and I go to L.A. a lot and pick out cool fabrics in the garment district. I’m very hands-on so it’s cool to see it all come together.
Source of Inspiration: Traveling, I just love to travel! I’ve definitely been influenced by different styles and cultures from other places throughout the world.
Her Personal Style: Lots of bright colors. I love neons. But then I have this equestrian style as well because I used to ride horses a lot. It sort of changes day to day, depending on my mood.
Designer Inspirations: Dolce & Gabbana, definitely. I just love their work.
How She Does It: I honestly don’t have a lot of time to do anything else. I stay up late at night finishing up my homework most nights! It’s crazy.
Free-Time Activities: I love photography so I take a lot of pictures. I also have miniature horses that I love to train. They’re all trick trained!
What’s Ahead: I’d love to see my clothing line become a household name and to just be known worldwide as a designer.
