Grounded. Articulate. Real. These are three words that come to mind when describing Danielle Rose Russell. This talented and beautiful actress is a star on the rise with roles in the film WONDER and The CW’s The Originals and with projects acting alongside seasoned actors like Julia Roberts and Donald Sutherland. In conjunction with the DVD release of WONDER, we chatted with her on her experience filming WONDER, what she’s looking forward to in the rest of 2018 and what’s she learned from being an actor.
What was it like to be a part of the WONDER movie? I remember turning to my mom in the car when I got the email to audition and saying ‘I am going to be a part of this.’ I loved the story so much. And filming it was one of the most incredible experiences I have had. Everyone on the set was like a family and everyone was extremely passionate about the project and about the work that we were doing.
WONDER follows the story of the Pullman family, specifically Auggie, and the people around them. Auggie is a boy born with facial differences, so when he enters elementary school the story basically follows his journey through the year.
This story really proves that it doesn’t matter if you are different or unique. Those are the qualities that are most special about you and you should learn to embrace them. It is a story about kindness and acceptance and I think it makes the world aware of the bullying that really does occur.
