Cody Simpson is taking up space on our iPod once again. His latest single featuring T-Pain, “So Listen,” is the perfect spring jam to put on your workout playlist, turn up in the car, or blast poolside. He’s also responsible for the theme song from the animated movie Hop! AND to top it off he’s currently on tour. Summer vacation? Not for this heartthrob. And that’s just fine with us! We caught up with him for a few quick questions about his busy summer…

You just released a single with T-Pain, “So Listen.” What was it like collaborating with him?
I love being able to work with really established artists like T-Pain, especially as someone beginning my career. I have a lot to give but I have a lot to learn. T-Pain is definitely someone that has been doing it for a while, and I love being able to work with people that can write better songs than I can and can sing longer runs than I can, and he’s that guy. I like being able to work with people like that. He’s very cool.

You’re touring this summer with Big Time Rush; what is your favorite part about touring?
Waking up in a new city every day is kind of crazy, and just performing every night. The reason we’re out on tour is to perform and that’s my favorite part about it.

Your song “I Want Candy” is on the Hop soundtrack. What was it like being asked to be a part of an animated film?
It was cool. It was my first time working on a project that wasn’t my own so it was cool to be able to get creative for another project, especially something as big as Hop is and was. I’m a big fan of the movie, and it’s cool to be passionate about something you worked on.

That song is a cover, and it’s been covered by such a wide range of artists, but is there another song by a different artist that you would like to cover?
Justin Timberlake, “What Goes Around Comes Around”

Who is getting a lot of play on your iPod right now?
The last record that I played was “Dreams Money Can Buy” by Drake.
