No matter how hard we may try to avoid it, bullying catches up with many of us one way or another… whether we fall victim or we find ourselves behind the hurtful words or actions. But the good news is, you’re not the only one and you can learn from it. In honor of National Bullying Prevention Month, our favorite stars, including Madison Pettis, are speaking out about how they stay confident.
I pray a lot. I also talk to my mom very often and she reminds me of what’s important. Whenever I have moments of insecurity, I turn my “nice meter” up! Making other people laugh and have a good time brings me enough joy to stop channeling in on myself. If I can have a good time and help other people have a good time, that’s enough. —Keke Palmer
I’m still learning to always keep my head high and stay positive. If you have a big heart for something, don’t let it go because of the negative things people say. —Olivia Holt
You have to stay true to yourself and don’t be afraid even though people may say what you’re doing isn’t cool or isn’t right. I promise you, you will not regret it if you stay true to who you are and what you love to do… —Emma Stone, People’s Choice Awards
A trick for confidence when you’re not feeling confident is to throw your shoulders back and be friendly to people. I think that sometimes when you look uncomfortable or you’re being shy, people can see that as unfriendly. I think the easiest thing to do when you’re not feeling confident is to just act confident until you are again, because confidence is not anything that anyone feels 100% of the time. —Taylor Swift
Becoming yourself is really hard and confusing and it’s a process. I was completely the eager beaver in school. I was the girl in the front of the class who was the first person to put her hand up and it’s often not cool to be the person that puts themselves out there and I’ve often gotten teased mercilessly. But I found that ultimately, if you truly put your heart into what you believe in, even if it makes you vulnerable, amazing things can and will happen. – Emma Watson, MTV Movie Awards
