We love Julie Kagawa and would probably read her grocery list if she shared it with us! So imagine our excitement when she agreed to play 5 Quick Questions right before the release of ROGUE (4/28), sequel to dragon drama TALON. (Which we loved as much as Julie loves orange salmon sushi rolls! Mmmmm.)
Hi, Julie! Thanks for playing! Since we read and loved Talon, our minds are a little dragon-sessed, so you may sense a theme today….
1. So, what’s the BEST thing about dragons?
They’re giant lizards that breathe fire, fly and can best you in a riddle contest nine times out of 10. Plus they’re usually rich. Hard to pick just one.
2. Describe Rogue in three words….
Dragons in Vegas.
3. The best adjective to describe dragon-hunter Garret is…
4. Which video game would Ember and Garret dominate in?
I think Ember would absolutely love WoW (World of Warcraft), though she might take issue with the killing of dragons. Garret would probably be a master at Call of Duty and other shooters.
5. A vampire, a dragon and a fey queen get into a fight. Who wins?
Oof, that’s a tough one. I think it would depend on who is fighting and how old they are. If it were a newbie vamp going up against a dragon, he’d probably get charred to dust. But both dragon and vampire would be in trouble if they were fighting, say, Queen Mab of the Winter Court. Unless the dragon was Smaug, and the vampire was Dracula. Regardless of the outcome, it would be an EPIC battle that would never be forgotten.
And Spark Girls, read on to learn more about Rogue!
ROGUE by Julie Kagawa
Ember Hill left the dragon organization Talon to take her chances with rebel dragon Cobalt and his crew of rogues. But Ember can’t forget the sacrifice made for her by the human boy who could have killed her—Garret Xavier Sebastian, a soldier of the dragonslaying Order of St. George. He saved her from a Talon assassin, knowing that by doing so, he’d signed his own death warrant.
Determined to save Garret from execution, Ember must convince Cobalt to help her break into the Order’s headquarters. With assassins after them and Ember’s own brother helping Talon with the hunt, the rogues find an unexpected ally in Garret and a new perspective on the underground battle between Talon and St. George.
A reckoning is brewing and the secrets hidden by both sides are shocking and deadly. Soon Ember must decide: Should she retreat to fight another day…or start an all-out war?
