annedroids 1

Are you a fearless, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) loving girl with an eye for creating the unexpected? Well, so is Anne, star of Amazon’s original series Annedroids, which follows Anne and friends (both human and the android assistants she’s created) on their journey through life with, of course, a few scientific discoveries along the way. We got the chance to chat with Addison Holley who plays Anne to get a feel for what makes her tick in real life—is she just as creative and STEM-minded as Anne? Check out our interview and tune in for the Season 2 premiere on Tuesday July 2!

Tell us a little about Annedroids and your character, Anne.
Annedroids is a show Anne, who lives in a junkyard with her dad and her androids that she has made. Nick and Shania are her two friends who live across the street from the junkyard. Anne is home-schooled, and she hasn’t really been open to the world because she’s been hidden behind the gates of her junkyard. Nick and Shania teacher her about the real world, and Anne teaches them about science and her life in the junkyard!

Your character is an inspiration to young girls because of her leadership, intelligence and creativity. Do you have any actresses whom you look up to?
Britt Robertson! I think she is so talented in every single movie I see her in—I believe in what she’s doing!

Anne is also a female scientist. Do you relate to her hobbies and interests?
She doesn’t really care about fashion, but I do! I love to dress up and I love to be girly. Anne is definitely a tomboy, and she dresses kind of like a boy. I do relate to Anne in that she is not afraid of trying new things, and she’s not afraid of new adventures and exploring. I do really admire Anne because she doesn’t mind what other people think of her, and she’s not trying to be like other girls. I like that Anne is her own person!

Has playing Anne taught you any lessons that you’d like to pass along to other girls who are interested in STEM but intimidated by the male-dominated field?
First of all, I think it’s amazing what Anne is doing for any kid, not just girls, to know that it’s okay to be who  you are, and if you’re smart to show it. Create your own things, create androids, create robots, do what makes you happy.

As a 15-year-old girl, it must be really hard to balance acting with your day-to-day life! What’s the key to your success?
I love what I do. I love acting, but I also really love all of my friends and spending time with them. I also love being a normal kid and going to my cottage during the summer and hanging out with my family. I also love to dance and sing, so as long as I can do both—as long as one isn’t taking away from the other, then it’s all good to me.

Is there anything in particular that we can look forward to during Season 2?
Well, Season 2 brings a lot more excitement. You’re going to see Anne in a different way. I won’t spoil anything, but you’ll see her as a different character. Just a lot more fun and action packed. A lot more experiments with science and the androids and it ventures outside of the junkyard as well to explore the world.
