We recently got some one-on-one time with the fabulous and hilarious Jen Armentrout to chat about her newest (and final) installment in the Dark Elements series, Every Last Breath, and we’ve been counting down the days to its release ever since! Check it out and see what all the buzz is about…
Every Last Breath, finale to the Dark Elements Series, is about Layla, who is half gargoyle/ half demon and she’s kind of caught between two boys— Roth, the crowned prince of hell and Zayn, a gargoyle she grew up with. Besides the obvious love triangle that’s involved, Dark Element is really about Layla coming to terms with her good side and her bad site, and fully accepting who she is— and, of course, once again, those gargoyles.
Which one of your characters do you most closely relate to?
I’m gonna go with Bambi and Bambiis the demonic anaconda snake. Bambi is always hungry so that would be me.
Which genre would your book fall under and what attracted you to it?
The book falls under the paranormal/ fantasy genre and I’ve always had a huge soft spot for paranormal. I think it’s great to really be able to escape the world. It’s true escapism but it’s also really grounded realist so it just makes escaping a lot more fun and easier.
What would be the theme song you would select for your book?
Throughout the series, Roth the crowned prince hums “Paradise City” from Guns ‘N Roses, so I’ll have to go with that. Some old school, 80s hair band music.
