With the release of Moving Up, Living Down, Eric Hutchinson is shaking up the songwriting world—and he’s bringing coconut water with him. There must be something in the coconut water…

Singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson’s unusual drink of choice is coconut water, which he says he drinks to keep him and his voice hydrated. Eric skyrocketed to success at the iTunes store and on the Billboard Heatseekers chart after Perez Hilton praised his first album, Sounds Like This. His latest effort, Moving Up, Living Down, shows how much he has grown. “I wanted to make music that felt like I was growing up but also didn’t feel like too much of a departure from what I’ve done,” Eric explains. “I feel like I’ve grown up a lot over the last few years, and I’ve wanted the music to reflect that.” For Eric, the most rewarding part about the recording experience is seeing his music come to life. His songs stay with him long after the studio, and he says the fun part is vividly remembering his experiences of when he first wrote his songs and also his experiences of when he first recorded them. Eric hopes that his original feelings and the moment of inspiration he gets when writing his songs shine through the music-making process and his performances so he can share that same feeling and inspiration with audiences.
