We’ve known Katherine McNamara is a true champ for a while, and now the designation is official! The recent Justine cover girl was just named the newest Champion for Girl Up, the United Nations Foundation’s campaign to support young women. The Shadowhunters star is raising awareness and funds to provide education, medical care and a safe environment to girls in need around the world.
Katherine takes education seriously. (She finished high school early at age 15, graduated from college two years later and is currently working on her master’s in economics from Johns Hopkins University!) Now she’s working to help all girls have the same access to school she’s had.

And Kat’s excited to be doing the work with Girl Up. “They put their heart, soul and intelligence into their work and make a real difference in the lives they touch,” she says. More than 1,200 Girl Up clubs in 66 countries support the hardest-to-reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl. Learn more about the good work at girlup.org.
