We recently caught up with Spinning Man’s Eliza Pryor, who pursued her Hollywood dream from her own home in Dallas, Texas. (Who knew that an app could launch a career!) The budding actress—who has already scored scenes in Netflix’s Alexa & Katie and in Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home—dished about her new career and how the app Scenebot helped her to get her foot in the door. It turns out that for aspiring actors, Hollywood isn’t as far as it seems!    ///by Katherine Leslie

HER DREAMS WERE AT THE TIPS OF HER FINGERS!
“It all started when I began singing and performing at age 7. I was really into singing, but I was also really interested in acting. So I signed up for an acting workshop in my hometown in Texas. At the end of the workshop, I got the flyer that had the app Scenebot on it. I went home, downloaded it and recorded a scene I really liked and sent it off. It was really fun! Then I ended up getting in the top 10 then got first places and was really surprised but excited. Then Cathy reached out to me from Scenebot and said, ‘Hey come out to L.A.’ So I went out to L.A. in November and met up with a few agencies. I ended up going with one and that’s how it all started!”

HOW THE APP WORKS
“So you record a scene and send it off. Then they have a first round where people are selected and some people make it. I guess anyone can go on there and vote for who they think is good. So they do this every month and then there is a final round called Top Ten with the people who got the most votes. I ended up getting first!”

WHAT SURPRISED HER ABOUT ACTING
“I think, I just know they have really good food on set—I was really surprised by that! I also just didn’t expect how much work actually goes into it and how long it actually takes to produce something.  I did Spinning Man but I didn’t realize it would take a whole year for them to get everything together and for it to actually come out!”

HER DREAM ROLE
“My dream role would be kind of a Stranger Things type, like Eleven! I’ve always wanted to play a really dramatic role but someone with superpowers, you know? I don’t know why, but that’s always what I have wanted!”

WHAT SHE WANTS TO ACCOMPLISH AS A YOUNG ACTRESS
“I just hope to get a lead in a TV show and work every week. I feel like it would be really cool to be a lead in a show so I think that’s one of my goals is to get that.”

OUTSIDE OF ACTING
“I love horseback riding; I love being out in nature and I love animals. I started riding horses when I was in kindergarten at a week-long camp and ended up loving it! So, I started taking more lessons. Whenever I have free time, I go and ride horses.”
