Graceling

by Kristin Cashore

Katsa is a “graceling” which means she was born with a superhuman power and is visibly marked with mismatched eyes, one green and one blue. Her startling beauty distracts people from realizing that her “grace” is actually the ability to kill any man with her bare hands. When her uncle, the king, realizes her strength he positions her as his court enforcer. Katsa loathes this role but is unsure how to defy his wishes without endangering the people she loves. In response, she forms a secret council to provide justice for the weak and abused. Her work keeps her busy until she meets a handsome stranger who can almost match her skill in fighting. Can Katsa discover the identity of this mystery man, escape her uncle’s control, and discover a positive side to her grace?
