What happens when you put together a classic like Peter Pan, some of our favorite on-screen teen stars (like triple threat Sabrina Carpenter), catchy pop music and the creators of So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol? You get a match made in heaven!
There’s a new Peter Pan in town and this time it’s a British Panto-style play called Peter Pan and Tinker Bell: A Pirate Christmas. So what is British Panto, you ask? Think Taylor Swift meets your favorite childhood movie—a modern take on the classics.
The play is written by Kris Lythgoe, son of So You Think You Can Dance judge Nigel Lythgoe, which can only mean good things considering Kris was also involved in the creation of SYTYCD! And who better to direct the play than Kris’ mother, Bonnie—a dancer, host, director and judge on SYTYCD Australia? Add Michael Orland (American Idol musical director) directing Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) as Wendy, Chrissie Fit (Pitch Perfect 2) as Tinker Bell, Kevin Quinn (Bunk’d) as Peter Pan, August Maturo (Girl Meets World) as Michael and Corey Fogelmanis (Girl Meets World) as John. Then there’s Emmy-nominated choreographer Spencer Liff in charge of the all of the dancing, including the back-up dancers straight from SYTYCD… well, you get the picture!
This is one star-studded performance you don’t want to miss if you’re lucky enough to be around the Pasadena (CA) Playhouse Dec. 9-Jan. 3, but even if you’re not, you’re in luck! We got the lowdown from the cast and even played a quick game of “Fly or Fall,” so check it out…
If thinking happy thoughts helps you fly, will these scenarios help or hurt?
